I did the initial Summer Duckie illustration back in 2023, but for the longest time wanted to give him beachy background to vacation in. I had a lot of fun figuring out the exact textures for the sand, the sea and the sky - and especially for the rocks on either side. The work of Peter Brown (The Wild Robot , The Curious Garden, etc.) was as a major influence for the background.
